Welcome to the Bali International School (BIS), home of the Dragons!

BIS has a rich and proud history, dating back to its humble origins in 1985. Since then the school has grown quickly and now boasts top facilities and an enrolment of approximately 300 pupils from PS through to Grade 12. In spite of our increase in numbers, BIS has maintained its familiar and warm atmosphere as a tight-knit and caring community of learners.

Not only is BIS the oldest and most prestigious international school in Bali, it is a leading IB school, recognised world wide. Our thinking: just because you've made the move to tropical paradise, doesn't mean you can't still give your child the world-class education he or she deserves. At BIS you get the best of both worlds, all wrapped up in a small community environment where everybody knows and cares about your child.

BIS offers all three IB programmes – PYP, MYP & DP – in classes from Pre-School to Kindergarten all the way through to Grade 12 Graduation. BIS is WASC-accredited, recognised by the Council of International Schools and loved by students, teachers and parents alike.

Of course, BIS also knows that all work and no play makes life very one-dimensional, which is why BIS students have every opportunity to participate in a host of extra-curricular activities. From sports, to theatre productions, to swimming galas, to national basketball competitions, to international maths Olympiads, to an all-out 'Battle of the Bands', BIS has the facilities, and the soul, to make every day an exciting one.

BIS was founded by a group of keen expatriate parents and officially opened by the Governor of Bali, Prof. Ida Bagus Mantra, on September 3, 1986, on the present site.
